All our events are unique and this one is no different. Don't worry though, we always serve up something fun involving a fabulous afternoon tea served on vintage china and table linens.
Just to be different, this time we've chosen an art studio* for the venue so our guests will have the opportunity to look at the art on the walls AND make their own piece of "assemblage" to take home and display.
Assemblage (noun) is a form of sculpture comprised of "found" objects arranged in such a way that they create a piece.
Don't take fright! We've hooked up with a very capable tutor Jo Cushing to help you make something to be proud of. So if this is your first foray into art since school, she'll be at your side, or if you're more experienced she'll be there to offer words of encouragement as and when needed. And Jo will provide all the bits and pieces you'll need, and a frame, to make your assemblage. If you have any bits and pieces (not valuable) at home that are personal to you and you'd like to put into your assemblage, feel free to bring them along, whether bits of fabric, buttons, photographs or an old broken watch.
Following which we'll dish up a masterpiece (groan!) of an afternoon tea, including lashings of leaf tea (or fresh coffee), finger sandwiches, freshly baked scones with clotted cream and jam and a selection of tea time cakes and fancies.
All materials, tuition and afternoon tea included.
Bring a friend, your brother, come alone, all welcome. A good chat is over tea is all part of the experience and we assure you of a very warm Manchester welcome.
Artists smocks or tea dresses optional, but fun.
