We are thrilled (and a little bit hungry at the thought of it) to announce that we are setting up a Supper Club at Hincaster House. In collaboration with Phil Lewis, local Chef, who cooks for the popular Baba Ganoush Restaurant and Cafe in Kendal, we are hoping to run our Supper Club on a monthly basis. The first date is Monday, September 12th, 2011. Look out for future Supper Club events, as the menu will flex with seasonal availability.

Phil is known for his delicious and stylish cooking. There is nothing precious about Phil's food - it's just intelligently planned, expertly prepared, hearty food based on over 20 years experience in renowned establishments throughout the UK.

Phil says 'So this is probably the first Supper Club in Cumbria ( I can't find any others!). And this will be our first evening, so it's quite exciting really.

The whole idea is, for us anyway, to gather together some likeminded people and eat some really good food and have interesting conversation, probably about the food, but anything goes!
The location is informal and relaxed, but quite special. The food is not trying too hard to be 'cheffy' but will probably include things you wouldn't necessarily do at home and you won't have to wash up.

For our first gathering I thought I would cook up a Moroccan feast with influences from other North African and southern Mediterranean countries, but using some of our spectacular local produce including Herdwick Lamb and herbs from Howbarrow Organics. There will be aperitifs and nibbles when you arrive, a very impressive starter and then a huge feast strewn the length of the dining table for everyone to help themselves from. We'll finish with homemade icecream made with flavours from the garden, and some handmade chocolates and petit fours and fresh coffee.'
