Our mama, who taught us all we know about Bengali cuisine, and whose cooking features heavily in khana commune Singapore, is coming to London for a few weeks. I'm very keen that Londoners get to try her cooking, so I'm announcing a November dinner date featuring a menu full of dishes only mama can make.

Here is the menu so far, subject to further musings and inspiration:
beguni - aubergine thins
aloor chop - potato and meat or veg croquettes
murg pulao, a delicate chicken biryani
mama's special tomato and chilli chutney
sheem and aloo bhaaji, a bengali veg stirfry
bengali-style whole seabream
with steamed rice
mama's handmade out-of-this-world gulab jamun
homemade lebur shorboth - lemonade
yemeni kisher, aeropresse coffee and a selection of teas
still and sparkling water
