Here are our guests at our secret Crafternoon Tea Party last Saturday, after a hard hour's sewing they deserved a slap-up afternoon tea didn't they?! We chose a new location this time, a really delightful village hall, complete with its own solar panels for power, in the Cheshire countryside. Just to prove that it was originally the building housing the local school, an elderly gentleman came in for a look around half way through the afternoon, he was with his daughter and they were visiting the area he grew up in. The kitchen we were serving cakes from had been his classroom!
We had a couple of stallholders join in the fun, to give an added dimension to the tea, in the form of browsing and shopping. We're fairly sure that our guests had a fine time, having been thoroughly spoiled, and were relaxed and full of delicious cake when they came to leave. It's a huge amount of work staging a secret tea party in a location outside the home, but the atmosphere was super and we'll be going back again if we can.
The menu included Hummingbird cake, lemon and blueberry cupcakes, white chocolate and raspberry brownies (these were a big hit), fruit tea loaf, not to mention some new open sandwiches with cream cheese and roasted veg.
