Hmm what to bake?
First stop is on the front of Sainsbury's current magazine and is a recipe from the wonderful Dan Lepard who writes on baking for the Guardian every Saturday. It's a Blackberry and Cinnamon cake, bursting with whipped cream and blackberries. How autumnal.
Secondly, in a nod towards Christmas, a chocolate orange cake. Two layers of moist chocolate cake decorated with whipped orange frosting and Terry's chocolate orange segments (chef's children desperately hoping there'll be a few leftovers).
And finally something terribly traditional, this is afternoon tea after all. Light as a feather bakewell tarts, with sweet pastry, raspberry jam and frangipane filling, sprinkled with flaked almonds and baked until golden brown.
All in addition to lashings of delicious leaf tea, freshly made and delicious finger sandwiches, savoury tartlets and fluffy homemade scones with clotted cream and an eclectic selection of jams.
Not to mention the good company, pretty china, crisp vintage table linens and beamed farmhouse dining room. It's like come dine with me, but absolutely no marks out of 10 or looks around the bedroom!
A few places still left but book soon.
