Storm Katie damages kitchen

Dear Carrot Supporters,
The Fat Carrot has been a victim of storm Katie. The high winds in the early hours of Monday morning tore the entire roof from our production kitchen in Hildenborough and deposited it in a field about 30 meters away. Thankfully it did not hit any other building and miraculously the ceiling remained intact long enough to hold off the rain and prevent too much damage to the equipment in the building. We are dealing with the insurance and are unsure when we will be able to trade 'as normal' again. Below is the revised list of events and Farmers Markets as far as we know at the moment and further information regarding the pop-up events.

I spoke this morning to the owners of The Old Fire Station and in order to continue with the event and not disappoint the people booked they have volunteered the use of the small kitchen in the building for preparation of the food. The Fire Station kitchen sadly is not big enough to produce and store food for the two nights. We have therefore taken the decision between us to cancel the Friday 15th April date- which was to this point the less booked and offer Friday bookings the chance to come Saturday 16th April instead or to be refunded.

**Cranbrook Farmers Market and pop up Café.

The market at Cranbrook which we run will still be open as usual. We will serve tea & coffee from the Café area and possibly a limited range of cake and savouries if we can. Our own stall with The Fat Carrot range may not be possible to run if the production kitchen is still unusable. The April theme for the market is St George’s day to encourage people to think about buying British or better still Kentish Food!

What You Can Do
We are not covered by the insurers for interruption of business/ loss of earnings. I am not asking for donations but if we can fill the remaining Old Fire Station event on 16th April that will mitigate some losses. We will also really appreciate you coming to the Cranbrook market on the 23rd if you are able and for any orders that you place once we are we are back in the kitchen and can return to business as usual.
