My local flea market is (as they are) a veritable trove of treasure! My purchase is slightly unconventional; a 7-s G-Plan coffee table covers in pages of 70s porn magazines. Not for the faint-hearted, but it's surprisingly subtle. Most people don't notice for the first few visits!
A pretty French made (sorry cannot remember the name right now) baking dish in blue for EUR 1 in a flea market near Les Arcs (South of France) a year ago. Could not believe my luck! Pity that I accidentally broke it late part of last year.
Ooo I'd love to win this book and it looks chockablock with ideas I could use for my kitchen/dining room redesign!
So my best flea market find would have to be this lush rocking chair that I bought from a flea market in Wales.
I got it for the measly sum of £13 and later discovered it's only a blinkin' made by a well famous Finnish designer in the 1940’s.
It's a beautiful shape and super comfy (especially for big bottomed ladies).
Looks like a lovely book, and it's certainly on my wish list from now on! My favourite flea-market find, apart from a large collection of china, victorian cut glass and some great linens, is my hubby! We met in the dusky dawn, side-by-side rootling through treasures at Portobello market one gloomy saturday morning many years ago. I spotted the potential I could see beneath the dust and the air of neglect and I just know that, with a little tlc, he'd polish up lovely, and I was right, it turned out I had found a little treasure! And in the best traditions, reader, I married him, and he now takes pride of place and makes my house a home. :o)
From Les Puces de Saint-Ouen in Paris ... a gorgeous lead crystal cheese dome with matching plate for only 10 Euros when it was meant to be 30. LOTS of haggling in terrible French and it was mine. Use it regularly to sweat brie! YUM! Gorgeous book by the way!
