You know when you want to go out for a lovely meal with your other half... but you don't have a baby-sitter/can't afford a meal and a baby sitter/are still breast-feeding and can't leave the baby alone for more than an hour...
Well, wouldn't it be great if supper clubs were baby/child-friendly affairs?
My husband and I went out for a meal in a French restaurant recently. We took the 4-month old along too. She spent most of the evening chewing the menu, table, her own fingers and drooling adorably. It was a candle-lit romantic kind of place and we were terrified that she would at some point start crying/making inappropriate noises and ruin everyone's evening. We bolted our food, decided not to have a desert, paid as quickly as possible and then ran home for baby's bed time... stressed, ripped-off and with indigestion.
I think I will make The Hidden Dinner Party a baby-friendly event. It can be difficult to leave babies alone in the evening with a carer, but that shouldn't mean that you have to stay in every night... that would just drive you crazy! Perhaps so crazy that you dream up the idea of starting you own supper club? Perhaps.
