Event Description

We are a supperclub based in Tufnell Park, North London. We specialize in North Indian food. With one successful supperclub under our belts we are creating a theme for the next one. We only host up to ten people as we are all about meeting new people and eating fantastic food. Our previous guests have loved the set up so we are tried and tested! Have a look at our website for more details.

'A Hint of Christmas' Menu

Welcome drink of mulled wine with a hint of ‘The Punjab’ or something stronger accompanied by home made Pakoras.

Starters

Stuffed Bataoon (Aubergine) with a festive spicy cranberry relish and Puri.

Lamb masala chops with a festive tamarind dip.

Main Course

Fresh Masala Chicken – the meat is on the bone as it is the only way to get the full flavour and it falls off the bone when cooked. It is locally sourced from Indian butchers because the chicken has much more flavour and texture. I learnt to cook this dish from my mother and father and have been cooking it for 30 years for family and friends. My father’s version consisted of going off to buy a ‘fresh’ chicken (somewhere in Kent ) which then had to be plucked and gutted. I am not sure how my turn came to do the gutting but I would have been grateful for rubber gloves in days gone by! Thankfully I can now go to my Indian butcher and get him to wear the gloves and come home with my lovely fresh chicken. I am trying to convince him to post pictures on the website so do watch this space.

Spicy Fish Curry - filleted fish cooked in a delicious masala but first marinated in dry roasted spices.

Gobi Aloo – a delicious cauliflower and potato curry cooked with ginger and roasted spices.

Parsnip Sabji- cooked punjabi style with chillie and spices. You might be surprised to see this on the menu. However, there is story behind it! When I married my English husband we always spent Christmas day with his family. On Boxing day all of my husband’s family would come to my parent’s house. My mother would buy all the typical Christmas ingrediants but cook them her way – Punjabi style! My favourite vegetable was the parsnip curry – so there you have it!!

Channa Tarka Daal – made with yellow lentils which have a thick and meaty flavour.

Rice – always plain because it is there to accompany the other dishes not compete with them.

Roti - delicious light breads that accompany the meal.

Chutneys and Relishes – made by Rani

Dessert - Phalon Ka Chaat ( sweet & sour fruit salad with a special masala)

and

Christmas pudding ice cream because there won’t be room for anything else!

And to finish – The delightfull Masala Chai and Indian sweets.
