In other news, I also met the master Himself... Mark Hix and, as the new season lamb is so good at this time of year, I’ve been inspired by one of his summer Lamb recipes. So on 23rd June I'll be dishing up this menu:

A Nibble and a Tipple to get you in the mood
The Main Event:
Spring Leg of Lamb baked in Hay
Fresh Garden Peas with Rocket & Spring Onion
Caramelised Golden Beetroot
Carrot & Cardamom Purée
Award winning Knackered Mother's Wine Club recommends...
Beaujolais or Chianti. There are a lot of flavours going on with the food here, so we don't to cover anything up. The beauty of Beaujolais is the Gamay grape, which is juicy and not at all overbearing. Go for Cru Beaujolais like Fleurie or Morgon if possible, or Beaujolais Villages.
To Follow up:
Chocolate Brownie with Home-made Marshmallows
Knackered Mother recommends...
Maury or Port. For the chocolate brownies, you've got to go sweet. And one of the best pairings for chocolate brownies is Port, or another fortified wine from France called Maury. If you can find one made by Mas Amiel, the combination will blow your mind.
