Event Description

Leading Malaysian chef Norman Musa of Ning restaurants presents the first of his 'Open Chef' nights in London's E3. Get into the socialable atmosphere of a traditional Malaysian 'open house' with a feast of great food!

Chef Norman will be joined in the kitchen with guest Denisa who is originally from Slovakia but spent many years in Malaysia, where she fell in love with its amazing and diverse cuisine, deserving a place as "one of the world's most exciting cuisines" she says. Having since been classically trained at the Hotel Academy, she now enjoys experimenting with all the wonderful Malaysian flavours, creating innovative takes on authentic Malaysian dishes for friends and family. Immersed in Malaysian culture, she also speaks a little Bahasa Malaysia (Malay), often gives talks on Malaysia and acts as a guide to her adopted country.

If you love Thai, Indian and Chinese flavours, you will adore Malaysian food. And if you're already a fan of Malaysian food, you will love Denisa's authentic food - cooked with love and presented with flair - and get to meet the UK's leading Malaysian chef, Norman Musa, at the same time!

Beautifully and creatively presented (as shown, for illustration), Denisa's delicious menu will include:

Canapes:
Crudites with home-made sambal belacan
Freshly-made chicken scratchings

Starters:
'Otak-Otak' fish pate parcels served with zingy courgette and mint salad with coconut and calamansi dressing

Mains:
Nyonya-inspired Kaffir Lime Chicken
& aromatic Black Beef, Nasi Kandar Style, both served on banana leaf with white rice

Interlude:
Our selection of Yee Kwan ice creams & sorbets

Desserts:
'Onde-Onde' coconut and gula melaka sweet dumplings
& little pots of 'bubur hitam', black rice porridge with pandan and lashings of coconut milk

Andy, our host and co-founder of Ning, will be providing his usual attentive hospitality complete with complimentary drinks on arrival and tea or coffee afterwards. BYOB to enjoy with your meal.

The venue is a trendy, canalside private apartment, 'hidden away' in the shadows of the Olympic Stadium between Bow Road and Hackney Wick, with easy public transport access.
