Event Description

The Walthamstowfoodies Supperclub, as the name implies is based in the heart of Walthamstow, East London. You might not consider this to be the epicentre of culinary delights but you’d be surprised. We are passionate about the seasonal and local food available from Europe’s longest street market, our Sunday Farmer’s Market or the independent food shops here in E17.

We try to mainly use organic vegetables sourced from OrganicLea, a local community allotment, but sometimes there’s a bumper crop of veggies on the market just shouting out. We use good quality meat either from our local butchers HR Parsons, Maghreb and East London Sausage Co. or the butchers at Waltham Forest College which sources from Smithfield. Fish is again from the E17 fishmongers, Davies & Sons in Bakers Arms or direct from an early morning dash to Billingsgate Market.

Our Supperclub is held monthly in our Victorian terrace, so space is limited to ten people (and unfortunately there's no disabled access). A set menu is served and we tend to dip in and out of cooking styles and don’t limit ourselves to any particular country or theme. We follow the seasons and cook dishes that make use of the produce available with inspiration from our travels. So you may find a Croatian Beef Pasticada, Turkish Karides Guvec or a Salmon Wellington on our menu. Almost everything we serve is homemade including the breads, crackers; sometimes even the cheese and our infamous sorbets and chocolates!

There’s no silver service, we offer sharing platters and dishes so everyone is encouraged to pass things along the communal tables. This soon breaks any awkward silences that could occur when strangers find themselves flung together on a Saturday evening. We love to hear the laughter and chatting once everyone gets stuck into our dishes – we want our guests to feel at home and leave feeling happy, well fed and having made new friends.

We’re happy to change the menu for vegetarian or special dietary requirements so long as we know in advance to give us time to adjust the shopping and cooking. Everyone is welcome - solos, couples and groups.
