The Essential Christmas Ingredients...

One of the absolute best things and I mean best things about being part of The Next Big Event is the frivolous foodie opportunity to really dive into ridiculously fru-fru xmas nibbles and snacks. For years I salivated whilst Nigella, Jamie and crew whip up nibbles thinking I wish I could just throw some fairy lights over an IKEA bookcase and look that cool. Sadly family and travelling always meant my nibbles went amiss, and left my attempts at smoked salmon canapés abandoned. So, the…

What's Tessa favourite Tipple....Red wine...Old monk....?

If I was to choose a favourite drink I would probably have to choose red wine but I am no expert on it! -  I only started drinking it when I stopped smoking a few years back. That’s only because a man at my NHS quit smoking class said I should drink something that I have never smoked a cigarette with. There wasn’t a long list to delve into, and as the girls were drinking a lot of red wine at the time, it was the only realistic option.  The trouble with red wine is you can have a great bottle… Continue

We’ll Always Have Meadow Well...... A (Room)ance by Hannah Clemson

Like the leftover chocs from Christmas, and the tenner you left in your jeans from last winter, this job is full of little, hidden, tucked-away treasures. Since I founded, created, invented, nay changed the world by starting The Next Big Event global corporation PLC etc, etc, I’ve been finding secret secluded spots all over this beautiful region we call ‘The North East’.

Recently, I hooked up with Jayne from Space on Tap. Jayne runs a website dedicated to finding these…

The Books that got me into baking...And Still enjoy!

Every time I go to my bookshelf to look for something quite specific, I always annoy myself at just HOW MANY cookery cooks I actually have to peel from the shelves and onto the floor to get to the one that I need!
This exercise is never a short one either...the book that I am looking for is most usually right at the bottom towards the back, and my living room ends up…

New York bound...

Finally finished my first year's accounts. Those of you that are doing this as a business should remember to keep all your receipts and make notes of cash purchases. Register online for a tax number. Most self assessment forms have to be in by the 31st of January...

Worth getting a copy of Excel too, makes accounting so much easier. Still bloody boring though!

I'm off to New York on Friday and will be checking out some supper clubs over there. Check out my blog for my…

Just 6 spaces left for Japanese evening on the 29th

I am delighted to say that far from proving a concern our adventurous menu is proving a hit. I had thought that including Yellowfin Tuna Sashimi served tartare (raw) might prove risky. The good news is not at all. Will source through http://www.allfreshseafood.com/ unless anyone out there in Pop Up world knows a better supplier? Very, very exciting, we already have only 6 spaces left. Most recent comment from a guest is "can't wait". Neither can we!
