We had a great time at our supper club event last Friday. Marwood Yeatman cooked a fantastic collection of wild game ~ we had grouse, partridge, leveret wild duck breast all cooked with winter vegetables and theeee best Dauphinoise potatoes you've ever tasted. It was a perfect wonder that we managed to transform my sitting room into a restaurant and fit in so many people. I decorated the house to the hilt ~ no…

We've added some photos of our first supper. Thanks to Lara (Sheen Suppers), Nik and our other lovely guests for making it such a fun evening. Thanks also to my fabulous partner Nicole who is heading back to Oz. Expect some Sydney style inspiration in future events and a southern hemisphere Northcote Kitchen venue.
Here's the menu if you can't see the photo clearly enough......

Following other post on the difficulty of filling your first evening, here are some photos of my intoduction to the world of Supper Clubs. Getting 7 people through the door took more effort than the cooking. But it was worth it. Through word of mouth from the attendees my potential list for #2 is up to 16. I almost cancelled the event due to slow takeup - but glad I didn't. Thanks for the encouragement from various members. Pictures taken by my son's friend - one of my professional…

Well - phew! First ever supper club done and dusted. Despite a few hiccups - including the head waitress colliding with a coach in Victoria while driving her new Audi convertible on the way over to mine, and me coming out worse in a tussle with the mandolin - who needs that middle finger tip anyway - I think it was a great success. Judging by the extreme amounts of chatting…

We have THE A TEAM here in the kitchen at Tisbury for this very special event. Marwood Yeatman will be cooking wild and foraged foods for the main course for our supper club evening this coming FRIDAY 18th NOV. Marwood's 'The Last Food of England' is a frightfully interesting book with detailed descriptions on producers still doing it in the old fashioned way. Wild birds and venison cooked to perfection, cavolo nero, game chips and lots more, a three course dinner with free cocktails and…

This pink velvet cake is a subtle colour - not as pink as expected but tastes amazing. This cake is for Alice's Tea Garden's special tea guests this afternoon. It is filled with and covered in a Marscapone Cream Cheese Frosting.
Yum!

Hmm what to bake?
First stop is on the front of Sainsbury's current magazine and is a recipe from the wonderful Dan Lepard who writes on baking for the Guardian every Saturday. It's a Blackberry and Cinnamon cake, bursting with whipped cream and blackberries. How autumnal.
Secondly, in a nod towards Christmas, a chocolate orange cake. Two layers of moist chocolate cake decorated with whipped orange frosting and Terry's chocolate orange segments (chef's children desperately…
